Electroacupuncture

Acupuncture is an alternative medicine in which thin needles are inserted into specific points on the body surface for the purpose of healing.

In electroacupuncture, electric current is applied to the thin acupuncture needles using special devices that allow the adjustment of the intensity and frequency of the impulse. It is superior to regular acupuncture in effectiveness.

The following are proven effects of electroacupuncture:

1

PainMany investigations have been conducted on the effects of electroacupuncture on different types of pain including the pain from tissue injury, nerve injury, cancer and pain from internal organs. It was revealed that electroacupuncture blocks pain through the effects of certain chemicals in the body and that it is capable of alleviating pain of tissue injury (inflammatory pain) or that of nerve origin

2

Electroacupuncture promotes local healing by releasing stem cellsMesenchymal stem cells are capable of dividing and developing into different types of cells based on where they are needed. Following tissue injury, electroacupuncture has been shown to induce the release of these cells which in turn differentiate into cells that are responsible for regeneration and healing of injured tissue.

3
Production of more collagenIt has also been discovered that electroacupuncture treatment around the spine for about 28 days stimulate the production of more collagen in the intervertebral disc and therefore beneficial in those with degenerative disc diseases.
4
Nerve regenerationFollowing peripheral nerve injury, nerve regeneration has been confirmed by electrical study of the muscle and nerve after electroacupuncture. This is also accompanied by functional improvement.
5
Improvement in local blood flowA study in mice revealed that electroacupuncture improves the blood flow to the brain and prevents/reduces injury that may result from inadequate blood supply to the brain. Another study also showed improvement in blood flow to the uterus in women with infertility.
